Well I needed to go on a short 2 day ride just to clear the cobwebs out and all.
Now I am luckier than most since I live where a lot of people vacation, in the mountains of Wyoming about 80 miles from Yellowstone.
So when I ride the scenery starts right away.
I packed a few things in the saddle bars of my Dyna T-Sport and headed west over Togwatee pass.
This area is big with snowmobilers during the winter and grizzlies in the summer. The road is great and you get your first view of the Tetons on the west slope.

At Moran junction I headed north on 287 to take me through the park, Yellowstone that is. The $50 for a yearly pass is worth it for me since I travel it a few times each year.
I headed toward West Yellowstone to exit the park on the west side. This brings you by Old Faithful but I did not stop since I've been there before
and the park was fairly crowded.
Took some shots alone the Lewis River in the park.

The next stop was Quake Lake, this lake was formed when an earthquake in 1959 caused the side of the mountain to slide into the valley where
the Madison river ran through. 28 people were killed by the earthquake, 80 million ton land slide and finally the wall of muddy water that filled up the valley.
You can see the trees sticking up from the middle of the lake and in places you can see the tops of homes.

Next I headed into Ennis MT, to see if I could get a room.
Ennis is called the fly fishing capital of the world but you know how those claims can be. But at least they had a big statue to go with it.
Ennis is also were "Taking Chance" was filmed. (HBO movie). Ennis was used to portray my town of Dubois, WY as the hometown of Chance Phelps.

With no rooms to be had in Ennis I headed west on 287 through Virginia and Nevada cities. No luck there either so I headed on and was able to get the l
ast room in a the small town of Alder.
Chick's was a Bar/Motel/Restaurant place and for $50 I got the last Cabin in this 5 room motel.

You have to love a place were all 3 necessities are handled withing 50 feet or so...:clap
The next morning I headed back east towards the park but decided to go south through Idaho on the west side of the Tetons.
Instead of taking Rt 20 all the way to Ashton, ID I took a scenic byway and stopped at Mesa Falls.

The rest of the trip I just rode the back way into Jackson, the weather was gorgeous and not much traffic on these back roads.
Of course Jackson itself was a different story.
It's days like this that I appreciate my new home, yes the winters here are longer than a lot of places but the summers can't be beat.
Warm and dry and a view that can't be beat.
Now where to this weekend????
