Pulled the Trigger

It was sad to let my Sportster go but last night I made the decision to get a larger bike for a more comfortable commute and so the wife and I could spend more quality time on the bike. I hurt my back several years ago and then broke my tailbone a few years ago. Ever since I have had a lot of aggravation when I rode the Sportster. For the last two years I have tried to change some things on the Sportster to make it more comfortable like handlebars and the seat. Both helped but not nearly enough to allow me and us to ride 200 miles plus comfortably. I have had my Sportster since 2000 and had put a lot of great miles on it over the years. I built the heart of her with my own hands. I polished her and kept her pristine. She was something I never thought I would ever have let go. I was proud of her and how good of shape she was in after 14 years. The dealer was impressed as well and made a very good offer for her. Someone else that is younger and or has a better butt and back will get a meticulously maintained and detailed bike and I hope she brings them as many smiles and happy memories as she gave me. I kept her gas cap and that now is home on my new bike.
