Although I bought an old 883R partly because of the stock 2 into 1 header (plus dual disc brake and competition orange paint), I'm not digging the muffler. I've drilled out the baffle so it's not so - muffled - but it's still not what I want.
Since my vision for the bike is sort of a roadster, I'm thinking it would be cool to have a Norton Commando style peashooter muffler on it. Emgo sells a straight-thru glass pack type peashooter for $75 but it's a 1-3/4" inlet. The header ends with a 2-1/8" pipe. I'm wondering if I could cut the inlet off and weld on a short, 2-1/8" ID tube (with a slight bend on it to give the muffler that upswept angle). The peashooter has a slide type mount on it so I should be able to support it on the stock bracket.
Anyone try something like this, or change out the stock 2 into 1 slip-on for anything else?
