Hi
I have just put my bike back together after installing a new gas tank, new petcock and different main jet.
Old jets were 45 pilot, 195 main. Kept the 45 pilot but swapped the 195 for a 180.
Also completely cleaned the carb at the same time.
Bought a new petcock as old one was so clogged, new one has no vacuum line so I capped the nipple on my carb. Should it be capped?!
When I was cleaning my carb I did turn the idle mixture screw in until seated then 2 & 1/2 turns out.
Today when I started my bike the good news was that for the first time ever since I owned it I never needed the choke & started first time.. The bad news is it started at very high rpm's for about 5 - 10 seconds before suddenly dying & stalling.
The weird thing is my idle 'speed' screw (one by throttle cable) is all the way out and not even seated so I can't adjust idle down this way.
Can this problem simply be down to the idle 'mixture' screw being too many turns out? I'm pretty sure before I started cleaning my carb it was about 1 & 1/2 turns out.
I'm new to carb adjustments but really want to learn this stuff, if anyone can help I'd really appreciate it!
