Ironhead early cam plate mod.

Ive read that the only difference in the early and late cam plate is shaft length. So, if i was clever and precise enough i could put a new snap ring groove in the shaft and it would work just fine.
P.s. remember i have an early pawl support and cam plate in my 77 tranny.

Tell me! Am i dreaming? Or will it work?
