Hello,
Well this has turned into quite the project here. I have started numerous threads here. This one has to do with pistons. I was originally just going to replacing weeping base gaskets, by pulling the jugs but leaving the pistons in their respective bores. This way I would avoid having to re ring and hone. The pistons have alot of carbon on them. I also suspect it is oil build up due to the fact that it ran the stock air box for most of it's life. Is it possible to remove the heavy build up with the pistons still in the bore?
I'm guess yes but the best way would be to pull them. If I did this I would have to re ring and hone. I'm guessing in my area if I could find a reputable/competent place this would put me back about $300.........this is half way to a perfectly done 1250 kit.
Please advise.
Thanks Dave
