Doing my 560 cam swap and have a couple ?

I have the cams pulled and the pinion nut (using the Grindlock-great tool!) I assume the pinion should come off the shaft with little effort, but this one is snug. What do you recommend to get it off? I did remove any visible locktite. Replacing the oil pump drive gear with the bronze gear.

Also, question about the oil passage directly behind the filter and plugged with the Allen head plug. What are these used for on other models? Pressure gauge feed? Oil cooler related?

And lastly, it appears my oil pump is wet, as is possible leak. Would you pull and rebuild/replace gaskets and o-rings?
