1200 owners, 48 pilot jet

Just dropped a new CVP velocity needle and 48 pilot jet into my stage 1 1200L. Just wondering if anyone else is running a 48 pilot? I was having bad carb farts and white plugs on my bike and after the changes it has never run better. I have no intake leaks. Im running the K&N cone filter and cycle shack slip ons. The change in acceleration off idle and throttle response is AMAZING!!!! It's like a completely different bike. Before the change I had my mix screw at 4+ turns out and still was getting carb farts.

Im thinking about bumping up the main jet to a 185. On the freeway I start to lose some power at WOT. I've been told both these jets are too big for a stage 1 bike. Anyone else going against the norm? I dont care about MPG for this bike, I bought it to hot rod.

One more thing, besides dark plugs and black smoke/fuel smell out of the exhaust, what are other signs of running too rich?

Let's discuss! I can read threads from 2+years ago all day but I still havent found a correct answer for my specific situation.
