I bought a 68' Ironhead basket case off a buddy of mine for $500 a couple weeks ago. When I looked at the cases they had weld all over them like they have been cracked more then once and theres a small hairline crack in one spot on the right case. I'm going to get the crankshaft pressed out tomorrow hopefully so I can see what behind the crank looks like. I'm no expert at building a bike and I'm still learning, my ol' ladies dad is helping me rebuild it. I'm just looking for more insight from someone who has some experience when dealing with this type of situation. All the welds on the case look good its just that one hairline crack that has me pondering on what I should do before I jump head first into rebuilding it. Worst part is that it came with a bunch of new parts for the engine and the crank spins smoothly. Any insight would be real helpful.
