Well I took a break for my 64 mag bike to finish up the 74 xlh. The new andrews 2nd and 3rd work great. Here's the issue. And yes before someone says check the stickies (someone will anyhow) I already did and went the tests I could do, it won't charge the battery. I went for a little ride yesterday and the battery was just a little low to crank it so I kicked it off. Started great, ran great, no fluctuation at all in the lights or high rpm misfires. After a 25 mile ride I shut it down and the battery still wouldn't bump it over. It was at 12.2v but just didnt have enough to spin enough to light. So today I did the tests. Polarized the gen first thing. At an idle with the reg disconnected I got no voltage. Ground F and get 53v. Now from trying to crank it the battery is low at 11.8v, but when I start it with the regulator hooked up i'm reading a fluctuation at the battery of between 34v and 59v. I reversed the wires on the reg and still got the same readings. All positive, never went negative. It's a solid state reg. I have it connected green wire to F, orange to A, and red to Batt. Now even with these high voltage readings my lights aren't fluctuating or blowing out. So I'm thinking the gen is fine, but either the reg or battery is bad. Any thoughts?
As to my mag, I'll get back to it next weekend.
