On the path to making my 77 xlh Ironhead a bit more reliable. Last season I installed a Cycle Electric generator while keeping my mechanical regulator since it was working fine.
I learned that these mechanical type regulators are known to go bad... particularly due to the heavy vibrations from the bike.
I went ahead and bought a Cycle Electric CE-102 Electronic Regulator. Directions say to install the 3 corresponding wires to: Battery, A Terminal, F-Terminal. Sounds simple enough.
My current regulator has terminals: BAT ARM FLD. I'm assuming here that BAT is obviously battery, ARM is A-Terminal and FRD is F-Terminal. Am I correct?
Also I'm not sure what this is, but wires run from it and to my current mechanical regulator

What is this? Does it get eliminated with the electronic regulator?
