Hi, all, been lurking for 6 months, sucking up all the iron head imfo, I found a 72 xlch, same year as my first harley, I bought in the fall of 1971, 19 years old, hair down to my shoulders, and the women were dripping off me, what a great year, the best, now at 62, widowed and kids gone on to their own lives, I bought this 72 off of craigslists, woodstock Ill., paid $2,100.00, had 9k miles and had just been rebuilt, LOL!!!!. so I have it shipped to franklin ma, and begin the tear down. My friend, John Dennis, of lakeside machine, upton ma said he would guide me, LOL!!!!. Well to make a long story short, the motor was wrecked by the po, had to have it taken apart down to the cases. The lower was ok, so after much education on this site and John's machinest mentality, it's coming together. I paid $2,140.00 in 71, I've spent more than that on just the motor rebuild.
