Cornish Spring Ride

After the shittest wet winter on record it's been great to see the sun and get out for a dry ride. Set off to see some friends who have got the job of running one of the local campsites for the season. On the whole the roads are free from mud apart from where the local farmers have been muckspreading. Stopped at to have a look at the sea and nearly dropped the bike in deep sand.

PorthLuney.

The otherside of the road is Caerhays Castle which has the national collection of Magnolias which are very impressive this time of year.

Caerhays Castle.

Caught up with my friends, they stayed at my place last summer in their camper and then spent the winter in Spain. Lucky bastards!

Rode out through Gorran Haven which is very quite down tiny roads
towards Mevagissey. It's a typical Cornish fishing village steep narrow lanes down to the harbour, keep thoses revs down!

Mevagissey.

Passed a saddle tank AJS on the way to St.Austell, looked like a late twentys big port. Wished I'd got a photo. Had a bite to eat at Charlestown where theres often some tall ships to look at. Only the one today.

Charlestown.

Took the long way from St.Austell to Truro because it's one of my favorite local routes. I dont know about anyone else but I do this all the time on my Ironhead, it may take me longer to get where I'm going but I enjoy it all the more on twisty quite roads.

A bit of the china clay scarred landscape round St.Austell.

Into Truro and down by the river for a well deserved coffee.

Sunny Corner on the Truro River.

A lovely day on my Ironhead. Makes me wonder do I take the top end off ? It does burn a bit of oil but it's not like it smokes a lot, just a small puff on the over run from the rear cylinder. I'll think about it.
