First bike, need help

I bought an '89 883xlh that was converted to a 1200 with 34k on the odo I paid $2,600 - a steal if you ask me. I love the bike and I've been riding it a bit but it's clear that I need to take care of some things. I keep hearing about these magical "swap meets" where one can find anything they want at a decent price but I'm not sure how to find them. Perhaps I have to have the right pixie dust? I'm in the Seattle/Everett area so if anyone knows of anything let me know! Otherwise, I figured I'd post here. The classified section looks pretty barren.

First things first - the gray spray on liner in my tank is shot and I need a new tank. I'm having trouble finding one for my period - any ideas? I don't want to buy another one with the same gray crap inside... The only way I can get mine out is to either a) burn it out and repaint or b) cut it apart, clean it out, and repaint.

Second, it has trouble with top end power - once I twist the throttle enough for the main jet to kick in it bogs out. I've talked to mechanics about it and my jet isn't too big at all. I decided to rebuild the carb thinking it was a good idea anyway and found that one of the ball-checks was missing out of my super e so I'm hoping that fixes it.

Third - I have leaky pushrod tubes (collapsible). Anyone have experience changing the gaskets on these things?

Fourth - I've got screamin eagle exhaust. I see baffles inside. do they normally come with baffles? Would this be why I'm having top-end issues? Should I swap it out with something more traditional? I'm not into making my bike overly loud, either. I just want good exhaust.

Fifth - I would LOVE for someone were throwing out their mid-controls to send them my way. I've got forward controls that I'm not the biggest fan of. I'm willing to buy if not too expensive or trade outright.

Sixth - I'm a big dude and I need a seat that's not a "hugger" seat. Rear shocks, too. I think I'm going to check out the local motorcycle salvage place for longer rear shocks. I'm 6' 1" and getting the hugger model wasn't the brightest idea.
