Ok, get ready for a dumb question. How do you change the oil! Here's what i did:
I disconnected the drain tube below, drained it empty, removed the oil filter, replaced the filter, re connected the drain tube, 3 quarts of oil into the oil tank.
I have always had sport bikes and then a v-rod, they always had engine and trans together, all one fluid. I thought i read that the sportster was the same, now after more looking, i'm thinking i may have really messed something up.
After i finished, the bike stared and ran much better, but i'm scared something is dry somewhere or at least critically low!
Is the transmission fluid separate? could there be severe consequences for what i did? What is the proper process for changing my fluids?
