Ive pretty much completed the look of my Roadster Café project (except for black shocks which I have on order) and am ready to break the bike down for paint and powder coat. Im looking for opinions on color options for the tins and wheels.
My original intention was to go all satin black with the paint and powder coat. Im still certain that the sliders, trees, belt guard, strut covers, license plate holder/bracket, ect. will be in satin black powder coat but am now waffling on the tins, wheels and sprocket.
My current thinking is that with the tins and wheels in satin black Ill end up with sort of an altered Iron 883 look and loose the Roadster identity. Of course I could always preserve/replace the Roadster tank decals over the satin and thus a good deal of the Roadster look, but:
The tank paint is in great shape and with minor buffing would be perfect so Im thinking about just having the fenders done in the original Pearl Black (which is really a dark grey) to match. If I go that route I think the wheels, sprocket and side covers would look killer in gunmetal gray metallic powder coat.
Heres a pic of the way she sits. Although the fenders are now in satin black, in the pic they appear to almost match the tank and give a good idea of what the bike would look like in the original black pearl. With wheels and side covers in gunmetal grey metallic Im thinking it would be a great look and somewhat unique compared to the now common satin black look (although I still like that old school hot-rod black look). Another alternative would be to go with the black pearl, but rub it out to a satin finish. In that case I think Id do the side covers, wheels and sprocket in gunmetal gray satin.
Wadaya think?
