As far as rebuilding your wheels go, what can and can't be done?
I mean, I can just remove a rusty rim and put on a new one.
Can you change spoke and rim size?
Say, I have a 16 on my rear, can I change the spokes and rim and put it to an 18" or change the front to a 21" for example or you can't do that?
-or is this a waste of time and money and should just buy one.
When speaking about rima and wheels in another post I found many of you were very optimistic about DIY wheel building and pretty much suggested just diving in and doing it myself.
I really prefer to try and reuse whatever I can on the bike and not just toss and buy new parts. Gives me experience and keeps the Mrs. happy!
I am looking around for a DIY or cheap truing stand, I would like to get my hands dirty provided my wheels don't fall apart after I build them.
Any insights, advice or information would be appreciated, just trying to line up more jobs to do to get the bike where I want it.
