Due to one main factor, the loss of my chase van driver for the ride Brian and I decided to cancel our southern trip and ride fairly local (within 50 to 60 miles of home) so I sent him a message as to where to meet me and the time, he sent me a message saying he would be a litte later (and I didn't get it). So I arrived close to the prearranged time and waited for an hour then left and did a little exploring. As I was returning home in the late afternoon I pulled off the road to take an ass break at the top of the mountain (I may have dozed off for a little while). Anyway I hear the distinctive sound of the shotgun pipes on Brian's bike and sit up as he rode by I yelled but he just ignored me and kept on going, (I figured he was mad at me), knowing I couldn't repack my bags put on my gear and ever have a chance of catching him I headed on home.
I did about 170 miles today 22 of it on a graveled mountain road through the National Forest going to and from Catherine's furnace.
Found an Iron suspension bridge I had been wanting for a photo op and managed to get the river and a dam all in one.
